This course will provide learners with opportunities to link education and the world of work in engaging, relevant and practical ways.

BTEC courses are popular and effective because they enable learners to take responsibility for their own learning and to develop skills that are essential for the modern-day workplace.

The development of English and maths skills is essential in the business world and on completion of this course, learners will have developed a range of transferable and business sector skills that will benefit them regardless of their chosen progression route.

BTEC Firsts motivate learners and open doors to progression to further study and responsibility in the workplace.

BTEC Level 2 Business students study the following:

  • Building a successful Business Team
  • Finance for Business
  • Principles of Marketing
  • Recruitment, Selection and Employment
  • Introducing Law and Consumer Rights
  • Using Business Documentation
  • Financial Planning and Forecasting

Trips

We also arrange day trips as part of the curriculum such as to the Harry Potter Studios to see how films are marketed, the Bank of England, and we also arrange for guest speakers to talk on campus.

How is the course taught?

You will be taught in fully equipped classrooms using a range of teaching materials and techniques.

What support is available?

Our qualified tutors will support and guide you in the classrooms/workshops and through tutorials as they help you to develop the skills and techniques required in industry. Learning Support is also available for those with learning difficulties/disabilities; please let us know on application if you require this service. What social activities can I take part in?

We offer a programme of social and sports activities to all our students; full information is available from the Student Room at your centre of study. Student rooms are available for those who want to play games, meet up with friends or just chill.

What facilities and resources are available?

A range of hot and cold refreshments are available to purchase in the canteen and café facilities, as well as vending machines. Halal meat and washing facilities are available at both centres. We have Quiet Rooms for those preferring to reflect. Libraries are available at both centres, fully equipped with a wide range of learning materials and qualified friendly staff on hand to support you.

What else should I know?

Two units are externally assessed via exams, and the remaining units are assessed through set assignments marked by our course tutors and verified by the awarding body. This range of assessment methods allows learners to develop a wider range of skills and generate evidence for assessment through a range of activities, including role play, practical performance and verbal presentations.
