Formed from the recent merger of City of Westminster College and the College of North West London, the United Colleges Group (UCG) is based at the heart of the education sector in London.  With both Colleges within the group having received a Good rating in their most recent Ofsted inspections, and with a combined turnover of c£50m, the Group has both the ambition and strength to create a lasting difference in the local communities it serves, and beyond.

Key features of the Group

  • City of Westminster College has achieved its SFA and EFA (16-19) funded contracts every year for the past nine years, and both colleges have achieved significant growth in apprenticeships for 2016/17 of circa £1 million and have strong links with DWP and local authorities to deliver Employability Skills Programmes.
  • A broadly complementary curriculum offer and learner client base which provides an integrated curriculum that meets the needs of learners and employers across the sub region.  Sector specialisms include Business & Accountancy, Construction, Engineering, Health and Care, IT, Computing & Robotics, Public Services, Science, Sport, Creative & Digital Industries and Provision for Learners with High Needs.
  • We are one of the largest providers of HE in FE in London, working in partnership with a comprehensive range of universities including Westminster, Middlesex, London South Bank, University College London Institute of Education and Birkbeck (University of London).
  • Strong leadership and management, teaching, learning and assessment and outcomes profiles contributing to ‘Good’ Ofsted judgements for the College of North West London (November 2015) and City of Westminster College (June 2013).
  • Robust systems for quality improvement and self-assessment have resulted in year-on-year rises in achievement rates for both Education & Training and Apprenticeships.
  • Improved overall net cash positions and Financial Health forecasts with an ‘Outstanding’ rating, leading to a strong and financially sustainable combined group.
  • Extensive and effective employer links with key employers in London and nationally meaning that the Group has the capacity to respond effectively to the growth of Apprenticeship provision across London and the Home Counties, and to deliver on national contracts.
