Greater London Skills Competition: Meet the students competing on our home turf

The Greater London Skills Competition is upon us! 

Greater London Skills Competition is a collaboration between 15 London colleges, who are producing and hosting 14 different skills competitions from across vocational disciplined, that are all endorsed by WorldSkills UK. This programme is supported by the Greater London Authority, who will be hosting the final awards ceremony on Monday 9th March.

United Colleges Group will be participating in the following subjects:

  • Hairdressing
  • Health & Social Care
  • Maths and English
  • Plumbing
  • Science

This Wednesday, we’ll be hosting the competitions for Hairdressing, Beauty and Carpentry, and we’re rooting for team UCG! Check out our student competitors below (drumroll please):

Beauty

Aalaa Omar demonstrates consistently excellent practical skills and professionalism in her work. She shows strong attention to detail, a positive attitude towards learning, and great potential within the beauty industry.

Jhennyfer Olimpio De Jesus has shown outstanding dedication since the start of her course. She always presents herself professionally and, from the beginning, has shown a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to achieve her best. She is also a great support for her peers, always willing to help others and contribute positively to the team.

Hairdressing

Amira Houston is highly committed to her course, even participating in additional preparation outside of timetabled sessions, resulting in strong practical performance. She has demonstrated the technical ability, focus, and readiness required to represent Hairdressing at competition level.

Sundas Awan has been nominated for her consistent attendance, professional conduct, and steady practical performance throughout the course. She demonstrates reliability in sessions and strong technical ability.

Carpentry

Alfie Greany has been selected in recognition of his outstanding standard of workmanship. He approaches every project with a calm, methodical mindset, producing precise and well-finished pieces that reflect both technical skill and creativity. Alfie’s excellent problem-solving abilities make him a standout learner and a fantastic representative for the competition.
