Lewis and Shanna are Employed by Atkins and studying one day a week as apprentices at CNWL. Their course is an Advanced Apprenticeship in Construction and the Built Environment. They were both shortlisted for 'Apprentice of the Year' at the Builder & Engineer Awards after submissions from their tutor and employers.
“My work is mostly as a CAD Technician working on the design of engineering projects. It’s vital for us to understand the theory and maths principles. I am loving being an apprentice and felt motivated to apply for the award – talking about your experience is a good way to encourage others,” said Lewis
“I’m proud to be on the shortlist. We applied for the awards and were given great support by our practitioner supervisor at Atkins and assessor at the college. I am planning to study at Uni on a day-release basis after completing the Advanced Apprenticeship. It is very nice to get the mix of work and learning, especially in civil engineering,” added Sanna
