Alexandra Enache, 19, Science
"I started off at CNWL studying English. The College has great teachers and I was able to progress through to study science. I plan to go to on to university and become a radiographer."
Ivette Laviola, 38, CELTA
(Certificate in English Language Teaching for Adults)
"I got a job in the same month I finished my CELTA course at CNWL and I was so happy! I enjoy my job very much and now I am thinking of applying for positions abroad. With this qualification and the experience I have accumulated I could easily find work in schools of different countries."
Venille Hines, 38, Electrical Installation
"I was working as a junior tradesman but decided to get qualified in electrical installation to develop my career.
Going through the levels with CNWL has helped me get more involved with the business side of things as well as learning new skills. I am now involved in developing commercial work as well as the residential side of our business."
Filimon Okbay, 18, Media
Multi-talented Filimon not only studies media in the college but has also been taking extra lessons in web design, enabling him to take part in the WorldSkillsUK regional heats. After less than a year on his course, he was chosen for and completed a two-week student takeover of the nearby Ham and High newspaper, interviewing councillors and taking photos for the published edition.
Joy Tsui, 32, HNC Construction
Joy enrolled on a construction course at CNWL to enable a career change. She was soon employed in the sector and continued to study a part-time higher-level course one day per week. This is while working as a Salus Approved Inspector.
Joy was awarded as one of the CNWL students of the year for her outstanding commitment to professional development.
Marislesia Sabino, 37, Health & Social Care
"I studied ESOL at the College and came back a few years later to get qualified for my workplace, a care home. Studying has really helped me improve my career. The skills I have learnt at CNWL will be with me for life."
Fardosa Ahmed, 34, Hair and Beauty
"I wanted to learn the skills to work in the beauty industry. I love studying at CNWL, the staff and other students all support eachother and the salons are a great facility for learning. We get to treat paying customers. While on the course I have been getting professional work for photo shoots, including for CNWL's advertising campaign!"
Jayanne Davis, 19, Media
"Being a part of college of North West London for two years has helped me to evolve into a much more confident and bold character...I've gone from being a quiet student to taking a leadership role in the College as a student Governor! As well as completing my qualification I have enjoyed organising and taking part in events like trips and the annual student prom, and I have had my writing published online."
Rory Taylor, 29, HNC Construction
"I'm a Quantity Surveyor for Stoneforce, a construction company working on high-end residential refurbishment and new-build property. I decided to take a higher-level qualification to develop my career prospects and study in college one day a week. It's a great course and very valuable to share experience with others in different professions and companies."
Paulina Mazulyte, 17, English
Paulina completed her first year studying ESOL English in 2018. Despite being fairly new to the UK she has made remarkable progress, being chosen from among the college's 15,000 students to take part in a project with the Archant newspaper group. This led to her being given a summer job working for a newspaper in Boreham Wood.
Urma Faizi and Rahila Seviqi, 20, Computing
Urma joined the college while still at school, then continued to the Level 3 (A Level equivalent) course. "CNWL is a friendly college with nice teachers. I have been supported to make progress and am now looking for an apprenticeship."
Rahila joined the College to learn English (ESOL) and has also now completed Level 3. She is going on to Brunel university to study Business.
Sama Kaghazi, 34, Health & Social Care
