Helena Kennedy award for star media student

CNWL Media student Valentina Romagnoli, who completed her course at the college this June, has received an award under the Helena Kennedy Foundation Bursary Scheme.

Valentina received a number of offers from leading universities after getting top Distinction grades in her BTEC Extended Diploma in Media, eventually opting for a Journalism degree at Goldsmiths University.
During her time at the College of North West London, Valentina took part in a two-week student takeover of the Ham and High newspaper. She was also editor of the Digital Media group's own CNWL student magazine and has had her writing featured on the college website.
This June, she was announced as one of the College's Students of the Year. She is pictured below receiving her award from College Principal Stephen Davis.
Valentina's College tutor Nigel Lindley said: "We are delighted that Valentina has achieved this most wonderful of gifts of recognition. It is the result of her hard work, immense potential and efforts in dealing with a more than a degree of adversity, having arrived in the UK at the age of 16."
The Helena Kennedy Foundation makes a number of bursary awards each year to help talented students take up places at UK universities.
Valentina is the third CNWL media student to receive such a bursary in consecutive years.
