At the Skillbuild 2017 regional heats last week, College of North West London students claimed a total of six medals, including golds for Bricklaying and Plastering
The heats took place at Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College with over
50 students from colleges and training providers across London and the South east competing.
CNWL's construction team entered students in all four categories and won medals in each as follows:
Bricklaying: Gold medal - Raj Ruparelia
Plastering: Gold medal - Gregg Gordon; Bronze medal - Antonio Cupaiolo
Painting and Decorating: Silver medal - Kiera Quilkin; Bronze medal - Martin Telfer
Carpentry: Bronze medal - Awet Tesfay
The students now face an anxious wait to see if they make the top eight nationwide in each category. If they do, they will compete in the national finals, held at Worldskills UK in Birmingham in November.
Curriculum manager Tim Weston said: "What a fantastic achievement for our learners! I'd like to send a massive thank you to the teaching and technician team for all the preparation that took place over many weeks prior to the competition to ensure success – the results are fantastic!"
