Who is this course for?
This qualification provides progression, from GCSE, BTEC first Diploma or equivalent qualification. Also anyone wish to gain qualification by using their past and/or present work experience and learning, or those who wish to work within the electrical / electronic industry or anyone, wish to progress onto H E.
What are the entry requirements?
Ideally with a BTEC First qualification in Engineering or a related vocational area, or an NVQ2,Intermediate GNVQ in an appropriate vocational area, or a GCSE equivalent to; four passes at grade C, or other related Level 2 qualifications, or related work experience. You will be assessed on your English and Maths skills at interview. Also your previous achievements, and experiences through APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning), and evidence that has been generated during previous study or in your previous or current employment or whilst undertaking voluntary work, will be recognised.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.

Interpret information:
You can read and understand tables, charts, graphs and diagrams; read and understand numbers used in different ways; estimate amounts and proportions; make accurate observations and select appropriate methods to get the results you need.
Carry out calculations:
You can carry out calculations involving two or more steps, with numbers of any size, with and without a calculator; work with and convert between fractions, decimals and percentages; convert measurements between systems (e.g. pounds to kilograms); work out areas and volumes; work out dimensions from scale drawings; use proportions and calculate ratios where appropriate; compare sets of data of an appropriate size and use range to describe the spread within sets of data.

You study: Electrical and Electronic Principles , Construction and Applications of Digital Systems, Principles and Applications of Analogue Electronics, Mathematics for Technicians, Maintaining Computer Systems , Computer Aided Drafting , Principles of Computer Networks, Engineering Project, Selection and Applications of Programmable Logic Controllers, Principles and Applications of Electronic Devices and Circuits, Electronic Measurement and Testing, Electronic Fault-finding, Principles and Applications of Microcontrollers, Three-phase Systems, Engineering Drawing for Technicians, Health, Safety, Risk Assessment and Welfare in the Engineering Workplace.

You will be assessed through completion of assignments and tests.
