Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you are an apprentice, technician or craftsmen in the industry.
What are the entry requirements?
You will need VRQ 2/NVQ 2 certificates or evidence of relevant industrial experience.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.
- Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 2
You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing – for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.- Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 2
You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.
What qualification will I receive?
You will receive Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology
Where can it lead?
You can progress to Welder codes or a Higher National Certificate.
What will I study?
Subjects you will study include, engineering and environmental health and safety, organisational efficiency & improvement, engineering principles, fabrication & Welding and five optional units such as pattern development CNC programming for fabrication, MMA welding, MIG/MAGS welding, TIG welding, producing sheet metal fabrications, producing pipework fabrications and managing fabrication activities.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught through theory classes and practical project work.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via practical assessments and online tests.
What support is available while I am on the course?
You will be allocated a personal tutor. The college's extensive learning resources are available to all students.

Students aged between 16-18 will be charged a £20 resource fee, plus material courses if applicable.
