Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you are a school leaver looking to study full time or for those looking for an introduction to the construction industry.
What are the entry requirements?
You will be assessed on your English and Maths skills at interview.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.
- Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 3
You can read longer pieces of writing and understand the main ideas without help. You can write longer pieces of writing of 100 words or more. - Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 3
You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams to solve problems. You can add and subtract and do easy multiplication. You can use fractions and simple decimals.
What qualification will I receive?
Foundation Construction Diploma
Where can it lead?
You can go on to the Intermediate Construction Diploma (ICD)
What will I study?
Subjects you will study include: construction health and safety, tools procedures and materials used within the vocational area, this could be any one of following areas, painting & decorating, plastering, carpentry and brickwork. If you study full time, you will study various construction units to give you a broad understanding of the areas of construction.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught through a mixture of theory and practical sessions.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through demonstration of your practical skills and an external online assessment.

You will have access to a personal tutor to help you throughout the course and the College offers a comprehensive range of student services, including learning support, language support and guidance.

Students aged between 16-18 will be charged a £20 resource fee, plus material courses if applicable.
