Who is this course for?
The course is for you if you have completed level 2 hairdressing and wish to also qualify in barbering.
What are the entry requirements?
You will have completed an NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.
- Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 2
You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing – for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.- Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 2
You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.
What qualification will I receive?
You will receive an NVQ level 2 in Barbering
Where can it lead?
You can go on to study hairdressing NVQ3 or Barbering NVQ3, it may also improve your employment prospects.
What will I study?
Subjects you will study include cutting and styling men's hair, client consultation, shaping and trimming facial hair, client care, health and safety and product knowledge.
How will I be taught?
You will attend salon sessions working on men's hair, demonstrations and theoretical lessons.
How will I be assessed?
you will be assessed through the work you produce both in the salon via practical coursework and theory in class.

Students are supported by their tutor through the duration of the course. The Colleges extensive learning resources are available to all learners.
